The Corinthians FC were introduced yesterday as the newest soccer team to play at a high level in San Antonio. They will be playing in the National Premier Soccer League (or NPSL) which sits in the fourth tier of the US Soccer pyramid. The Commissioner for the NPSL is former San Antonio Scorpions President Michael Hitchcock. The Corinthians FC are looking at playing their home games at Toyota Field – home of the San Antonio Scorpions.

Introduced at the press conference were Owner Pete Veras and Vice President/Head Coach Jonathan Burklo. Veras wants to “provide a competitive team recognized nationally and built from local players.” The two want to give players an opportunity to play at a high level where they can be seen by professional teams. They plan on showcasing the vast array of local talent on their roster.

Universal Toyota is one of the several sponsors that have stepped forward to support the newest edition of high level soccer in San Antonio. The press conference was held at Big Sam’s Grill & Bar.
